Nominations Are Being Accepted:

Nominations are being accepted until Monday, January 16, 2012 for the Community Ambassador Award to be given at the 4th annual Bellevue Police Recognition Banquet, sponsored by the Bellevue Police Community Foundation. Nominees must be Bellevue citizens or businesses that have made an outstanding contribution in promoting the safety and wellness of the Bellevue community or the Bellevue Police Community Foundation through volunteerism and/or philanthropy.

Nominations should be one half to one page and include: the individual/business's outstanding contributions to promoting the safety and/or wellness of Bellevue; the individual/business's philanthropic community involvement; the estimated number of volunteer hours and resources contributed to the safety and/or wellness of Bellevue. The Community Ambassador award will be a part of the ceremony at the BPD Recognition Dinner scheduled for Saturday, February 11, 2012 at The Margre H. Durham Student Center at Bellevue University in Bellevue, Nebraska. Tickets and sponsorships are also available for this event.

Congratulations to the following BPCF Grant Recipients:


Congratulations to the Bellevue Police Department Honor Guard. The Honor Guard received at $1,500 grant to be used on the purchase of a flag pole, gun locker, parade rifles and gun cases. The Honor Guard provides proper honors for fallen comrades. They serve as the guardians or colors by displaying and escorting the national flag on ceremonial occasions. They are requested at law enforcement funerals in Sarpy and Douglas Counties and as far away as Grand Island.

Congratulations to Project LifeSaver. This project received a $700 grant to fund the program for the next twelve months. Project LifeSaver tracts people with special needs that could easily become disoriented, lost, or have trouble communicating to others where they live or their names. Participants wear a tracking device that allows police to locate then within 15 minutes. The average cost to the City of Bellevue without Project LifeSaver is approximately $500 per case.
